I became obsessed with the concept of manifesting as soon as I found out about it. A magical, helpful universe? Loved it. Control over what happens to me? Loved that too. But as I started playing and experimenting with what experts said, I found that it didn't seem to work as easily as they said it would. Was there something wrong with me? Nope. The problem wasn't with me, it was with how manifesting was being presented. Of course it EXISTED, but it looked like it was much more complicated than some people were making it out to be. In this blog post, I'm sharing what I've learned over years and years of learning and experimenting - and talking to my spirit guide team about it, too. This is what I consider to be the truth about manifesting.
So first of all, let's define manifesting.
All manifesting means is turning energy (ideas, thoughts, inspiration, desires) into form (what you can see and touch in the physical world).
That's it. Which means that you're manifesting every single day. So you must be pretty good at it, because, look around you, there's a whole lot of things around you that you can see and touch 😉
Now as I write this, more and more information comes to mind to share with you. But this isn't meant to be an ultimate guide kind of post. So I'll keep it to the manifesting truth that inspired this blog post.
There are many manifesting myths that are taken as truth in our world:
- that manifesting is something you learn (it's not, it's every soul's natural skill so all you need to do is remember how to do it)
- that manifesting refers to the successes and achievements in your life (it doesn't, it refers to everything, the things you want and the things you don't want)
- that manifesting means creating your own reality (it doesn't involve any creating at all, it involves noticing and saying yes to opportunities and ideas, i.e. becoming the kind of person for whom that reality is the natural norm).
One of the biggest (and most dangerous) manifesting myths out there is that it's possible for you to manifest absolutely anything you think up.
It's a nice idea, that you can think of a red ferrari, imagine it in your mind, and it will appear in your life.
But you know in your heart that it's not true - and you also know in real life that it's not true because there are lots of things that you set out to manifest and didn't!
(not just you, me too, all of us!)
The truth is that manifesting is a soul-level skill so it has to be soul-led.
This means 2 things:
- that the original desire has to be coming from your soul
- that in order to get to experience that desire you need to become more soul-aligned
So in essence, manifesting is all about soul alignment!
This is the #soulsmart way 😉
The better you get at noticing what your soul is craving, the more successful at manifesting you'll be.
The better you get at differentiating between ego-level wants and soul-level desires, the more successful at manifesting you'll be.
The more you align with who you truly are at soul level, the more successful at manifesting you'll be.
Because you'll be allowing the wisest, most powerful part of you to lead the way. And that's the part of you that knows not only where to go to experience highest potential and fulfilment, but also how to get there.
So HOW do you become that good at recognising soul nudges and aligning with your higher self?
You practice!
That's literally the entire secret.
Start by asking yourself this question:
What does my soul want to experience?
Let whatever answer is inside you to bubble up to the surface. And then do whatever your answer is. No matter how small, or how seemingly unrelated to what you think you want.
If you like oracle and/or tarot cards, you can use them to help you.
Or you can join us in The Elevator and let me support you.
Whichever path you choose, let it be your soul's path. That's the one that'll lead you to more fulfilment and joy than you can even imagine.
Let me know what you think below, I'd love to know!
Lots of love,

I’m still deciding what I believe about manifesting what I want. Still learning from my own experiences. But I think you’re onto something there about soul-inspired creation being easier.
I think not just easier, I think manifesting HAS to be soul-inspired. It HAS to involve magic. Otherwise it’s just productivity, setting a goal and going after it in the usual linear way.
There are a lot of people out there – on YouTube – who will tell you they put “having a sports car” on their vision board, and it didn’t take long, ta-daaa, they had a Porsche standing in their driveway. Is that what you call ego-level?
It COULD be ego-driven, it depends on WHY they have that desire. An ego desire will usually have something else attached to it, wanting to be seen in a particular way, status, wanting to prove something to someone. A soul desire will ultimately be more about a sense of fulfilment.
I appreciate this post. I have been hearing a lot of people use the word “manifest” lately, the meanings all seemed different
Yeah, I mean no one can know what is means 100% for sure, I think there’s some mystery and magic to it as well. But I think that when people simplify it to ‘visualise it and it’ll appear’, that’s not helpful to anyone.
I love this post, Joanna. I have been thinking quite a bit about manifestation lately. Along my journey, I started manifesting exactly what I did not want. I think I lost belief in the magic of life when I became engrossed in my career/ego. I have been thinking about how we often use our mind to manifest, when we should really focus with our hearts. Feeling how we want to feel in every moment. I guess it’s an emotion experiment. Thank you for your post. I enjoy your blog very much.
Oh I definitely think that manifesting has more to do with emotion than with the thing itself. I believe that we desire what we desire to feel a particular way, and the path to manifesting the desire is always quicker when we focus on the emotion than when we focus on the thing itself. I’m glad you enjoy my blog, thank you for saying that! 🙂
