The idea that we’re living in a multiverse with various realities to move between has become more popular in recent years. Unsurprisingly, people love the idea that if they don’t like the reality they’re in, they can simply slide into another one, presumably one where they’re richer, slimmer, more successful. But how do you actually do it? Is it possible to figure out HOW to shift realities? I KNOW it is, because I’ve experienced it - and I’ve spent years learning how to do it with intention, on purpose. In this blog post, I’m sharing what I think are the most important elements of successful quantum jumping for manifestation.

What is reality shifting?

Reality shifting assumes that various realities exist, and that it's possible to move between them.

It refers to the act of leaving the reality you currently inhabit and experiencing a reality that's different in some way(s). 

My guide team, Avalon, tell me that reality is a lot more fluid than we think, and that we actually shift between realities all the time. The examples they have given me include times like when you're SURE that you put your keys on the table in the hallway but they're JUST NOT THERE so you look all over the house for them and then find them on that table in the hallway after all. You probably put things like this down to being tired or stressed, but Avalon says that you're not imagining it, you really DID put your keys there, and you really did shift between two different realities where the location of your keys was one of the differences.

I'm sure you're now thinking of loads of examples where you may have shifted realities... which is fun, but kinda useless, right?

Which brings me to the point of this blog post: to help you train yourself to shift realities INTENTIONALLY, and ON PURPOSE. More on that later.

How does reality shifting work?

Surprisingly, reality shifting isn't about trying to affect the reality around you, but rather about changing your IDENTITY to match the reality you want to experience.

We assume that reality shifting has to focus on what we see as reality because we’re naturally focused on the external world. So when we hear about reality shifting, we naturally think that it is our task - or goal - to figure out how to shift the reality around us.

But my years of learning about and experimenting with this concept have shown me that we’re not actually shifting the reality around us, rather we ourselves are shifting into a different reality. This is called quantum shifting or quantum jumping.

This reframe is important because it takes the focus away from the external and moves it to YOU, the main player. It’s YOU who’s doing the shifting.

It also assumes that the reality you want already exists - you don't have to create it yourself. I mean, that concept of CREATING reality can really stress you out, it sounds so hard and impossible, you know? Isn't it comforting to think that you don’t have to make reality shift before your eyes? Or that you don’t have to create a brand new reality from scratch? 

It is a much easier task to assume that there is an infinite number of realities out there, and all we need to do is shift our consciousness - or focus - into the one we want.

Shifting realities then becomes about learning to see the world the way you want to see it - not in a sweep-the-negative-under-the-rug kind of way, but in a focus-on-what-you-want kind of way.

So is reality shifting real?

You already know what my answer to this is - of course I think it's real, otherwise I wouldn't be writing about it, or using the concept to help me manifest more of what I want.

But my knowing isn't JUST theoretical - I've also had a spooky experience that backs it up.

Back in 2015, I was at work, sitting in my office, using my lunch break to write a St. Patrick's Day blog post about my favorite Irish books. I remember writing a particular sentence and thinking to myself that it was a really good sentence, and that I'm a really good writer. 

Then, I felt something swoosh through me and when I looked at the screen my sentence was different! I couldn't quite remember what I knew I'd written instead, but I KNEW that the words on the screen were not the ones I just typed. I completely freaked out, which I think was a perfectly normal reaction. Eventually, I felt a swoosh again and everything turned back.

Distraught, I put my whole focus on getting to the safety of home. Once there, I confronted my guide team - I was SO ANGRY! How could they do this to me?? They calmly informed me that they didn't do anything TO me, this was something I chose to experience. I did NOT like this one bit, but decided that if it was something my soul wanted, then it was for a reason.

This is when I sought out information on alternate realities and moving through them, and consumed everything I could find. What I found out, coupled with what I experienced, made me believe that parallel realities were a thing.

I became slightly obsessed with figuring out how to use what I'd learned to help me manifest my dream life - and I'm thrilled to be able to tell you that it worked I am now living the life I've always wanted, writing and creating surrounded by the beauty of rural Galway, Ireland.

Let me share with you four key that will help you shift realities.

How To Shift Realities: 4 Key Elements of Quantum Jumping Into Your Dream Life

#1: Assume that quantum shifting manifestation is possible

Quantum shifting manifestation is just another way of looking at manifestation. This means that it's slightly magical and you'll need to suspend your disbelief to be benefit.

So, stop questioning it, and stop trying to poke holes in it. The truth is that it doesn’t matter if it’s 100% true - what matters most is whether or not the concept FEELS true to YOU, and whether or not you can use it to make your life better.

Trying to prove concepts that are spiritual or energy-centred is a waste of time, because energy is invisible to the naked eye… which means that you need to be willing to accept it to be true solely on faith.

You already know that I definitely believe that alternate universes exist - I was sold on the idea when I found out about the Mandela Effect and was told that the Bernstein Bears books don’t exist - they’re now called Berenstain Bears.

My belief was cemented with my first experience, and now that I have intentionally been using the concept for years, and have had great results, I don't think anyone can talk me out of it.

#2: Know what you want

It’s always really surprising to me how many people don’t really know what they want… Oh they’re usually really clear on what they DON’T want, and are happy to tell me all about that 😉 But when it comes to the details of what they DO want, things get more complicated.

I’ve noticed that the problem usually arises because most people don’t allow themselves to want what they really, truly want. So they keep their true desires hidden, even from themselves.

Also, we’re not really taught to be honest about what we want. As children, we’re taught to conform and learn to do what we need to do to get good grades, be part of the family, get a qualification that has the best chance of earning us money in the future. What we WANT doesn’t seem to matter a lot of the time.

No wonder we’re so bad at articulating what we really desire - and yet it’s such an important part of the process! I mean, how can you shift realities, how can you manifest the reality you want, if you don’t even know what that is?

If you’re not super clear on what your life would look like if you DID shift realities, if your dreams DID come true, then that’s a great place to start. Get a journal and a pen, and ask yourself this question: if anything was possible, what would I choose?

See what comes through - though keep in mind that you may need to ask yourself this question multiple times to get anywhere, as I said it’s not a natural question for you to explore!

#3: Focus on identity, not reality

This insight comes from years of experimenting with manifesting theories: the change needs to happen on the inside first.

Most manifesting content tells us to focus on the goal - I think this keeps us either stuck in place or in hustle energy, where we’re constantly trying to get to create or achieve something.

The thing is that manifesting has to include some kind of spiritual or magical element - otherwise it’s the same thing as working hard towards a goal.

To make sure that you’re not just doing what you’ve always done with goals, challenge yourself to think about the identity you will take on when you achieve the goal, rather than the goal itself.

This is exactly what I did to manifest my biggest goal yet, to have my husband and I quit our jobs and move to our dream location in Ireland, to live a life of financial and creative freedom.

My dream of living in Ireland was so outside the realm of possibility that focusing on it as a goal did nothing but create frustration and foster despair.

But I was definitely able to do start stepping into the identity of the me who lived in Ireland. If I assumed that this version of me existed somewhere out there, all I needed to do was align myself with her - do what she did, think like she did, make the choices she would make.

Doing this would change my energy and, according to the law of attraction, I would then attract different things than what my old self was attracting.

I adopted this as my truth, took on more and more of my imagined ‘Ireland Joanna’ identity and assumed that my external reality would eventually shift to match my new identity.

Which, of course, it did (if you want to hear the whole story, I put everything into a case study here).

So: get your journal and pen out again, and start exploring who you will be once your goal is achieved. Pay attention to any differences between that and who you currently are - which ones stand out as important? Make those changes first - they might be changes to your mindset or your assumptions about the world, or they might be changes to how you behave or what you choose. Whatever ones come up for you are the right ones, so just go with them and trust the process.

#4: Start living your desired reality today, in whatever way you can

This was kind of obvious from my previous point, but I think it needs to be highlighted, because it’s the key to the actual quantum shifting that you want to experience.

Quantum shifts are made up of small changes - this is the most important thing to realise.

It means that the best way to shift realities and slide into your dream life is to keep choosing to be the version of you that's already living that reality.

For example, when I was still living in Belgium, I had the insight that the version of me who was living in Ireland did a lot of reading. It would have been easy to leave this until I'd actually moved and had the time to read, but I knew that small changes like this one would get me there faster, so I intentionally made time for reading.

I also felt that the version of me who was living in Ireland would have to be ok to be outdoors in rainy weather, because if I wasn't then I'd probably never get to leave the house. So I made sure to go for my daily walk even when it was raining.

Incidentally, when I was on these walks in the local park I'd imagine that the sea was just beyond the trees. I made myself FEEL like I was already in Ireland in whatever way I could.

This is why the details of your desired reality are so important - you need the details to be able to add as many as you can to your current life. Eventually, you'll reach a tipping point and you won't be able to believe how fast things start changing. That's definitely what happened to me, and I'm still in awe of how it all unfolded.
