We’ve all been there.
You finally get your act together to write up an awesome offer for Facebook groups, and you post it.
And then… nothing. No response. No one wants your thing!
It feels terrible, doesn’t it? To put your whole heart into your offer, to work up the courage to put yourself out there, and to get nothing back.
It’s a problem that so many soulful entrepreneurs face – being visible without being pushy, attracting the right clients in the spirit of joy, not getting frustrated when there is no response.
I believe that many of us have lived past lives during which we were ridiculed, persecuted, or even killed for being ourselves. We’ve also lived many lives during which we were made to feel small. I know that this is true for me, and comes up for many of my clients.
So when our business requires us to be visible, we have a natural tendency to want to hide. We don’t want to bother people. We don’t want to be pushy with our opinions. We don’t want to be the centre of attention because that’s wrong, and can be dangerous.
That visibility hurdle is so big that when we finally start putting our message out there with some degree of confidence, we assume that that’s it, the hard part is over and now people will line up to work with us.
Thing is, the visibility hurdle is multi-layered, it’s not something that we address once and it’s over. Getting responses to offers you post is the external manifestation of your inner world, and it is based on certain principles that hold true for any marketing activity.
As with anything, the answer to your problem is part energy and part action. Because you’re a soul who instinctively knows how to use your soul power to change the world, and you’re also having a human experience and it’s action that drives things forward in the physical space.
If this is resonating for you right now, if you’re getting zero takers for the offers you post, if you feel like nobody wants your thing, if you feel invisible, here are a few things to consider:
1) Have you been giving consistent value before you posted your offer?
This is how the right people get to know, like and trust you, and it’s a HUGE factor of how successful your offer will be. Giving value means showing people why what you do is important, why they should care. It means helping people because you can, not expecting anything in return. It means sharing valuable, actionable information consistently so that people remember you and what you stand for.
2) Have you positioned yourself as an expert?
This is related to giving consistent value, but I think it deserves its own point. When you share tips or information, when you ask questions, when you comment on other people’s content, are you doing so from a powerful place of being an expert in your field? Are you contributing in a thoughtful way? Are you on message? Will people remember how helpful and totally awesome you are? Based on what you’re sharing, will they see how great you are at what you do? Will they trust that you’ll be able to help them?
3) Are the benefits of your offer super clear?
I hate to break it to you, but nobody actually cares that you created a new thing or have a new offer. That is not news that will get them to book you. So leading with ‘I have this great thing’ or ‘Come join us, what I created is awesome!’ isn’t going to get you the results you want. It’s the benefit to your customer that will attract them. So – what’s the benefit of your thing? What result will I get? What problem will you help me with? How will my life change? How will working with you get me what I want? THAT’S what you need to lead with! Not sure what kinds of posts get response? Observe! Go into a group that you know your ideal clients are in and see what posts are getting engagement. What’s making people want to respond?
4) How’s your energy and mindset around your offer?
Are you frustrated that nobody wants your thing? Are you angry at people because you’re not even getting likes, let alone comments? Are you so attached to the outcome (getting bookings) that you’re making a lack of bookings mean that you’re no good at what you do? If you answered ‘yes’ to any of these, it’s definitely time to tackle your own energy and mindset – anybody who reads your offer will be able to feel all this stuff!
Consider these and be honest with yourself. Where are you not stepping up into bigger energy? Where are you not being what you know you need to be? Where are you avoiding showing up?
And if you get confused and discouraged, always go back to yourself. What do you know to be true? What people do YOU easily purchase from? What elements needs to be in place for you to put your trust in someone else, and to pay them to help you? Chances are, your ideal clients will respond to the same kinds of things.
This is big stuff – make sure you’re kind to yourself, no matter how you answered the above questions.
The most important thing you can do is acknowledge your new awareness and take a different kind of action based on it. Remember, if nothing changes, nothing changes!
So what do you think? Let me know what comes up for you in the comments, I’d love to know!
Love,
