I've noticed recently that people throw the word 'manifesting' around without really stopping to consider its meaning. Or what it actually takes to manifest something you want. Mostly, the word has come to mean something coming to you magically, with little or no action on your part. This isn't what manifesting means - your action is definitely needed. It just needs to be the right, aligned action.
According to Merriam-Webster, to manifest means to "make evident or certain".
So saying 'I hope I can manifest some money tomorrow' doesn't actually make sense.
Manifesting involves many different parts - and waiting can be one of these parts. But it's not the only part.
For example, when I was manifesting our move to Ireland, I didn't mean I was waiting for it to happen but doing nothing or little towards it.
This is what I actually meant:
- I made my wish clear to the universe: Ireland was where I wished to live
- I placed reminders in my home, so that moving to Ireland stayed top of mind (lots of trinkets with sheep on them were involved in this lol)
- My family and I often talked about what life would be like once we moved - where we'd get our groceries, what school my son will go to, how close we wanted to be the sea, etc
- I visualised living in Ireland a lot. I imagined already being there a lot.
- We spent time in Ireland pretending that we lived there. Acting like locals and not tourists. True story. 😉
- I told pretty much everyone I knew that we are moving. I ignored the looks they give me when they realised that I had no definite information about this. 😉
- I started de-cluttering our house, getting rid of anything that wasn't coming to Ireland with us
- I started to make contacts/friends in Dublin so that I'd have people to hang out with when we moved (turned out we didn't move to Dublin, but still!)
- I often looked at houses for sale
- I got our Belgian house valued with a view to selling in the next couple of years
- I followed every local Irish business I could find on Instagram, so that my feed was Irish
- I signed up for a year-long financial wellness course so that I felt like I knew what I was doing with my money.
- And lots of other small things that made sure that my message to the universe was clear: Ireland was where we wanted to go, and we were getting ready.
When I said I was manifesting a move to Ireland, I did NOT mean that I wanted to go and was leaving it up to fate or the universe. It did NOT mean that I wasn't doing anything. It did NOT mean that I was simply waiting for something to happen.
I was meeting the universe half-way. Taking inspiring action. Holding the vision. Believing that it will happen in the best way possible. And enjoying my life in Belgium in the meantime.
Want to hear my full manifesting story? I have a case study recorded here.
So - what are YOU manifesting? Can you make a list like mine of what that means you're doing or what energy you're being to make it happen?
Love,

You taught me this process so well… loved this blog!
I’m glad the process still resonates!
love this example of setting intention AND taking inspired action!
Thank you!
I have been working towards my dream of owning some land where I can build my own eco-home by looking out for suitable land and building a business where I can work from anywhere.
Wow, a lovely dream! Hope it comes true for you!
I’m so glad you clarified that.
That’s what I observe in so many situations. People *expect* things to happen in their favor. And God forbid they don’t get what they want, they’re quick to blame everybody else but themselves.
I had no idea you moved to Irleand. How long ago was this, and how do you like it?
Hey Tamara! I moved here a couple of years ago, and love it! 🙂
