For many, many years now, I have said that I don’t like Summer, warm weather or beach holidays. That I don’t like when the sun is hot on my skin.

I told myself that everyone is different and that I like the Fall weather best, when the weather cools down and the appropriate clothing is more to my liking – dark colors and long sleeves.

But things have just changed.

As those of you who get my newsletter already know, I’ve been working with the wonderful Dawn Walton on my body image (you don’t get my newsletter? you’ll get a free 10-step intuition course if you sign up!). Dawn uses hypnotherapy, which means that she works on my sub-conscious to break all the beliefs I picked up somewhere but that are not serving my best interests. I originally went to Dawn to lose weight, and for me what has happened already is a great start: I don’t hate my body.

This year, I spent a week on the beach and was not worried about how I look in a bathing suit or in shorts. I was able to fully enjoy splashing around in the seas with my little boy without thinking about what others may be thinking when they look at me. I didn’t care that other women there were slimmer – I wasn’t comparing myself to anyone.

Outside of the beach, I’ve been enoying wearing proper summer clothing for the first time in years. I bought some sleeveless tops and I don’t care that my arms aren’t perfect, I still feel good. I bought a couple of shorter skirts and I feel good in them, too.

I feel good.

I cannot believe all the summers I wasted feeling too hot in clothing that covered me up, uncomfortable in everything.

This new freedom is immense. And so, so amazing.

This whole post will sound silly to those of you who have never had body image issues. But some of you will know exactly what I’m talking about. This post  – and the link to Dawn’s website – is for you.

Lots and lots of love,
